Meeting with Scarborough Youth Resource Centre

On June 16th we met with the Scarborough Youth Resource Centre.

Issues Raised:
The youth participants used public transit frequently to go to school and home. They discussed how the TTC bus service was inadequate. They said that buses are not on schedule and that they are treated unpleasantly by some bus drivers. They all agreed that the fares are too high for students and for adults. The youth all came from different areas of Scarborough and expressed the need for faster connections from one area of Scarborough to another in order to see friends and for finding work.

Outcomes:
The youth talked about raising awareness among their peers in school. Some ideas were handing out postcards in after school programs, sports teams, making announcements over the P.A system, going to community centres and raising awareness among family and friends.
