Teams across the NFL are preparing for the 2022 regular season with the start of training camp. The New York Jets were one of the first teams to take the field as the preseason drew near.
Here’s everything Jets fans need to know about training camp this year.
Each team has two separate start dates for training camp, as rookies often have to report a few days before veterans. The Jets had one of the earlier starts of teams across the league, with rookies reporting on Tuesday, July 19.
Then, on Tuesday, July 26, the New York veterans will be assigned to report for training camp. This leaves just two weeks to prepare for the team’s first preseason game on August 12.
The Jets are hosting a training camp at their Atlantic Health Jets Training Center practice facility in Florham Park, New Jersey.
Jets rookies reported for training camp on July 19, followed by Vets on July 26. New York will then hold drills to prepare for its first preseason game on August 12.
The Jets’ first preseason game is against the Philadelphia Eagles. New York also plays again on August 22 (vs. Atlanta Falcons) and August 28 (vs. New York Giants).
The Jets will take on the Baltimore Ravens in Week 1 of the 2022 campaign on Sunday, September 11.
One of the Jets’ bigger offseason moves was signing veteran tight end CJ Uzomah to a three-year, $24 million deal. Unfortunately, fans have been worried about his health since the 29-year-old missed mini-camp in June due to an undisclosed injury.
Much to the Jets’ chagrin, it hasn’t gotten much brighter. The team put Uzomah on the PUP list on Friday with an undisclosed injury, leaving his training camp status up in the air. While the Jets can activate him at any time during camp, he will have to miss the first four weeks of the 2022 season if he is not activated by the 53-man roster deadline.
