5-Star QB Jaden Rashada plans UF visit

The wheels for Florida Football’s recruiting team continue to turn as Billy Napier and his staff transition from spring to summer mode. Seeking improvements where the previous regime failed, the Gators have worked hard to bring the best athletes to the swamp and restore Orange and Blue’s glory.

One of the blue-chip players the Gators are interested in is 5-star Pittsburgh High School quarterback Jaden Rashada, who received an offer from the Gators on April 8 despite being out of his top 10 was excluded. Apparently , Napier and co. are still on the hunt for the 6-foot-4-inch, 185-pound prep project after his father, Harlen Rashada, told Swamp247 his son plans to make an official visit this summer to do in Gainesville, and doing so by setting an appointment.

Rashada’s current top 10 schools, which he released about three months before Florida’s bid, include Arizona, Arizona State, Arkansas, Auburn, Oklahoma, Oregon, Oregon State, Penn State, UCLA and Washington. According to the 247Sports Composite, he is the #29 overall and #5 quarterback in the 2023 class, while the On3 Consensus ranks him #58 and #7, respectively.

According to Rashida’s dad, things have changed a bit since he released his top 10 list. Here’s what he told Swamp247 about where the Gators stand for his son’s services.

“It’s a little interesting with the top six because I know some of that was in the works before Florida came on board. They will definitely have the potential to do some bests in these top 6.

“I think Florida has the potential to be in their top two. We gotta get down there and we’re still building a great relationship, but the Florida relationship part is pretty new, but it’s pretty good. I expect Florida will come to the forefront of its situation.”

If there’s one position on the field where you just can’t have too much talent on the roster, it’s quarterback. While Florida is currently focusing on a potential superstar in Anthony Richardson, to find consistent success you have to plan two or three years down the line.

The Gators are a long shot for top recruit Arch Manning, while other top quarterbacks like Dylan Lonergan and Eli Holstein are much warmer at Orange and Blue. Landing one of those blue-chip signal callers would be a huge coup for the program that lost Nick Evers to the Oklahoma Sooners in the 2022 cycle.

TO UPDATE: Rashada’s top seven schools were released Tuesday afternoon, including the Gators.
