Aggie women know their SEC schedule

The 2022-23 SEC schedule for new Texas A&M women’s basketball coach Joni Taylor’s first season now includes dates after the release of the Aggies’ SEC opponent a month ago.

The Aggies will open the SEC list on the road Dec. 29 against defending champion South Carolina. Taylor, who succeeds coaching legend Gary Blair in her freshman season, will make her SEC home debut on New Year’s Day in Aggie’s host Florida.

After that, the Aggies travel to LSU to face Coach Kim Mulkey and the Tigers on Jan. 5 before returning home for their longest homestand on the conference list.

The Aggies will host Ole Miss on January 8th, Tennessee on January 12th and Mississippi State on January 15th.

After a road trip to Alabama on January 19th, Taylor will host former team Georgia on January 22nd. Taylor coached the Bulldogs before taking the job at Aggies in April.

Texas A&M ends January with a period in which four of five league games are played away. The Aggies travel to Vanderbilt on January 29th and then to Florida on February 2nd. After returning home to host LSU on Feb. 5, the Aggies get a week off from SEC action. Then Texas A&M travels to Mississippi on February 12th and Auburn on February 16th.

Texas A&M is playing two of its last league games at home – Missouri on February 20th and Kentucky on February 23rd. The Aggies finish SEC on February 26 in Arkansas.

The SEC Women’s Conference Tournament begins March 1st in Greenville, SC

The Aggies’ full non-conference schedule is final and calls for a Nov. 10 opener against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, followed by a Nov. 13 home game against Army West Point.

Notable non-conference games for the Aggies include a road trip to Duke on November 17, a road trip to Kansas on November 30 as part of the Big 12-SEC Challenge, hosting SMU on December 18, and the Las Vegas Invitational 20. through December 21 with games against Dayton and Purdue.

Taylor spent seven seasons managing the Georgia women’s basketball program. She won 140 games, including 64 in SEC play. Taylor took the Lady Bulldogs to four NCAA tournaments, including top 4 seeds in 2018 and 2021.

She was the 2021 SEC Coach of the Year and the 2016 Maggie Dixon National Rookie Coach of the Year.
