For the first time since 1943, the Engineers do not leave the state in the regular season

TROY, NY – The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) football program begins its 132nd season on Saturday, September 3 when Dickinson College makes its first appearance at East Campus Stadium. The Engineers led by the Head Coach in Year 10 Ralph Iserniaare playing six of their 10 games at home in 2022. The contest with the Devils is one of four home contests that start at 12 p.m. with two more kicking off at 1 p.m. and 5 p.m.

Highlights/Notables of the 2022 schedule include:

  • The first three games at East Campus Stadium
  • Opening game against first-time opponent
    • 3 Sept vs Dickinson (12pm)
  • Second meeting with Carnegie Melon
    • September 10 is the first duel with terriers since 1911 – an 11-0 RPI victory in Pittsburgh
  • The 115th meeting with WPI
    • September 17 in Troy for the Transit Trophy (5 p.m.)
      • Rensselaer leads the all-time streak, 61-48-5
        • 2nd most games against an opponent
      • RPI leads the trophy series 37-30-10
  • 3-game road trip begins September 24 at St. John Fisher (12pm)
    • Engineers won last year’s meeting, 41-7, at ECAV
    • Rensselaer leads the all-time streak 12-2
  • Opening of the Liberty League on October 1 in Rochester (1 p.m.)
    • Engineers have won against Yellowjackets six times in a row and 12 of the last 13
      • 3rd most games against an opponent (79)
        • Rochester leads the all-time series 41-34-4
  • RPI makes its second trip to Buffalo State on October 8 (12 p.m.).
    • Fourth year in the Bengal Conference
      • Rensselaer leads the all-time series 4-1-0

  • Back to back conference games with open weekend in between
    • 15 October vs. Hobart (12pm)
