American Theater Group honoring Broadway legend Christine Ebersole at the June Gala

(BASKING RIDGE, NJ) — The American Theater Group (ATG)Somerset County’s professional, regional theater company, celebrating its tenth season, will honor twice Tony Award-winning actress Christine Ebersole at their annual gala on Sunday, June 26 at the Fellowship Cultural Arts Center in Basking Ridge, NJ .

“We’re thrilled to honor Christine, a true Broadway legend,” said Jim Vagias, ATG’s Producing Artistic Director. β€œShe was instrumental in the early development of ATG, being a member of our Advisory Board along with other theater luminaries such as Harold Prince. She is an advocate for the arts, an artist of unparalleled talent and reach, and a proud resident of New Jersey. We are proud to give her the recognition she rightly deserves.”

The gala runs from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and features an open bar, gourmet canapes and morsels, a silent auction, itinerant magicians, and performances by and for Ms. Ebersole. The Fellowship Cultural Arts Center, where ATG is currently based, is located on the scenic Fellowship Village campus at 8000 Fellowship Road in Basking Ridge. Christine Ebersol received practically every Off-Broadway award and her second Tony for her double “role of her life”. Gray Gardens. Other Broadway credits include war paint (Tony nomination) 42nd street (Tony Price), Steel Magnolias, On the Twentieth Century, Camelot, Oklahoma!, Dinner at Eight (Tony nomination), The best manand happy spirit.

She has acted in many feature films including Liquorice Pizza, Steven Universe: The Movie, Driveways, The Wolf of Wall Street, Amadeus, Tootsie, Richie Rich, Black Sheep, Dead Again, People!, Ghost Dad, True Crime, My Girl 2 and The big weddingwhich includes an original composition she wrote and performed for the credits.

Her extensive television credits include the current CBS comedy Bob Hearts AbisholaWoody Allens Crisis in Six Scenes, Search Party, Steven Universe Future, Steven Universe, Sullivan and Son, Royal Pains, Mrs. Secretary, American Horror Story, Ugly Betty, Law and Order: SVU, Pose, Blue Bloods, Boston Legal and will and grace. She appeared as Tessie Tura in gypsy with Bette Midler and was a series regular in the 1981-82 season of Saturday night live.

Ms. Ebersole has performed in numerous concert halls across the country, including the Kennedy Center, Boston Symphony Hall and Carnegie Hall. She has performed her many critically acclaimed cabaret performances at Cafe Carlyle and venues across the country. American Theater Group (ATG), founded in 2012, produces new and classic works primarily by American playwrights with an emphasis on the development of new works and the rediscovery of undeservedly neglected older works. The Fellowship Cultural Arts Center The multi-purpose, 257-seat Mitchell and Ann Sieminski Theater benefits from the design work of world-class theater, lighting and sound professionals who created the state-of-the-art space.
