ASUN Conference Schedule Announced for APSU Men’s Basketball – Clarksville Online

APSU Men's BasketballAtlanta, GA – The Austin Peay State University (APSU) men’s basketball team is preparing for its first season at the ASUN Conference and on Thursday unveiled its schedule for the 2022-23 ASUN Conference.

The 18-game conference roster will feature nine home games with intriguing regional encounters against Lipscomb, Bellarmine and Eastern Kentucky. All dates are subject to change, game times will be announced at a later date.

The APSU Govs kick off December 29 with the ASUN Play on the Road against newcomer Queens University of Charlotte. It will be the first ever meeting between the two programs. Austin Peay State University continues its road swing with a New Year’s Eve battle in North Florida on December 31st. Last season the Govs fell to the Ospreys, 91-84.

Austin Peay State University starts the new year at home with their ASUN home game Jan. 5 against the Florida Gulf Coast. Thursday’s contest against the Eagles marks the first of three home games for the Govs, who face Central Arkansas on Jan. 7 before hosting country foe Lipscomb on Jan. 12. APSU remains in the home state while the Govs and Bison clash in Nashville on Jan. 14.

The APSU Govs end January with two home games against Bellarmine (January 19) and Eastern Kentucky (January 21), before heading to Kennesaw State (January 26) and Jacksonville State (January 28) for back-to-back games. Beginning February, Austin Peay State University hosts Liberty on February 2nd. The Flames are led by guard Darius McGhee, who was named ASUN Player of the Year for the second year running last season.

Following their contest with Liberty, the Govs host Queens University of Charlotte on Feb. 4 before back-to-back street games in North Alabama (Feb. 9) and Central Arkansas (Feb. 11). The final homestand of the regular season begins on February 16 when the Govs take on Jacksonville. In their home final, APSU meets North Florida on February 18 for their second meeting of the season.

To round out the ASUN conference schedule, the Govs will travel to DeLand, FL on February 22 to take on Stetson. This is only the second time in school history that APSU has traveled to Stetson. The conference concludes on February 24th on the Florida Gulf Coast.

The 2023 ASUN Men’s Conference Basketball Championship will be held on campus from February 27 through March 5, with the top seeds hosting each consecutive round of the event. The teams will be reset after the quarter-final competition. The 2023 edition of the tournament marks the 44th year that the league will host the championship.
