Bel Air Parade on July 4th, fireworks schedule for 2022

BEL AIR, MD — Bel Air’s Fourth of July celebrations are upon us and will include everything from a pancake breakfast to fireworks.

At 6:00 p.m., the Bel Air Fourth of July Parade makes its way down Main Street, causing downtown street closures. The theme of this year’s parade and events is ‘Honoring Harford’s Educators’.

Here is the breakdown of activities from sunrise to sunset on Monday July 4th:

6:45 am – Flag Ceremony at Bel Air High School, 100 Heighe St. Disabled American Veterans, Chapter 30; American Legion Post No. 39; Sergeant Alfred B. Hilton Memorial American Legion Post No. 55; and horn player Robert Hudson.

7am – 11:30am – Pancake Breakfast benefiting the Bel Air Bobcats Athletic Boosters at Bel Air High School, 100 Heighe St. Cost is $10 for adults, $5 for children under 7 and free for children under 2.

8 a.m. – Flag Raising at Rockfield Park, 501 E. Churchville Rd.

8:30 am – Horseshoe pitching at Rockfield Park, 501 E. Churchville Rd. Registration at 8 am

8:45 am – Flag raising at Shamrock Park, 39 N. Hickory Ave.

9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. – Family-friendly competitions are held at Shamrock Park, 39 N. Hickory Ave. instead of.

  • 9 am – Water balloon toss. Registration at 8:30 a.m
  • 10 am — boccia competition
  • 11 o’clock – says Uncle Sam
  • 11:30 am – Eat watermelon

10:45 a.m. – Flag Ceremony at Bel Air Elementary School, 30 E. Lee St.

11 am – Bike Rodeo at Bel Air Elementary School, 30 E. Lee St. This event is hosted by the Bel Air Police Department and features trophies for the best decorated bikes for boys and girls ages 5 and under; 6-8 years old; 9-10 years old; and 11-13 years old.

4:00pm – 6:00pm – The parade takes place on South Main Street and East MacPhail Road, near the entrance to Homestead-Wakefield Elementary School.

6pm – 4th of July Parade, from Idlewild on South Main Street to East Gordon on North Main Street.

9:30pm – Fireworks over Rockfield Park, 501 E. Churchville Rd. The show will be viewable from areas around the city.

If the parade or fireworks are canceled due to weather, they will not be rescheduled.
