Bellarmine has again loaded a non-conference schedule for 2022-23

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A year ago, the Bellarmine men’s basketball team played the fourth-toughest nonconference schedule in the nation, according to the NCAA’s NET ratings. This year, Bellarmine head coach Scott Davenport could aim for #1 on that list.

Although a few more games will be added, Bellarmine University today announced part of its non-conference men’s basketball schedule, and it’s once again packed with top-level and “Power 5” opponents.

Bellarmine became the first team to play 1st, 2nd and 3rd place opponents in November last year and the November 2022 schedule looks just as impressive with road games planned for Louisville, Clemson, Duke, Loyola Marymount, UCLA and Kentucky . The Knights will continue to face stiff competition in December with games against Miami (OH), Evansville and Murray State.

“Planning is an important part of putting our players, the university and the nation’s largest college basketball community first,” Davenport said. “This schedule is a result of the efforts of Coach Beau Braden and the great relationships and respect our program has earned year after year.

“I appreciate the opportunities these phenomenal programs have offered our players and our program,” added Davenport. “The respect we show these traditional teams has earned year after year. You are the best of the best! The coaches are true leaders in all aspects of coaching/leading on and off the pitch. To her THANK YOU!”

The season opener takes place in town when the Knights perform at the YUM! Center to face the Louisville Cardinals on Wednesday, November 9th. Bellarmine then travels to the Carolinas on November 18th and 21st, where they face Clemson and Duke, respectively. Post-Thanksgiving November could be the toughest for the Knights as Bellarmine head to the West Coast for games at Loyola Marymount (November 25) and UCLA (November 27) before completing the month at the Rupp Arena against Kentucky on November 29 completes .

The Knights entertain the Miami RedHawks at Freedom Hall on December 17 and take the short drive up I-64 to face Evansville on December 21. The game against Murray State is ongoing but will be played at Freedom Hall.

Coach Davenport plans to announce several more non-conference opponents in the near future. The ASUN conference will unveil the 2022-23 league schedule on Thursday.
