Brian Watkins’ epiphany Opening Off-Broadway at the Lincoln Center Theater on June 23

Marylouise Burke, Jonathan Hadary, Omar Metwally and Colby Minifie star in the play, who follow a group of old friends who reunite to revive an ancient tradition.

The Lincoln Center Off-Broadway Production epiphanyby Brian Watkins, opens June 23 at the Mitzi E. Newhouse Theater after performances begin May 26. Production is scheduled to run through July 24. Watch a montage of production highlights above.

Directed by Tyne Rafaeli, the cast includes Francois Battiste (A Christmas song, A night in Miami) as Charlie, Marylouise Burke (Is he dead?, John) as Morkan, Heather Burns (The child stays in the picture) as Kelly, Jonathan Hadary (gold boy, Spamalot) as Ames, Omar Metwally (Munich, reproduction) as Sam, Colby Minifie (The pillow man, A long day’s journey into night) as Loren, David Ryan Smith (One man, two Guvnors) as Taylor, CJ Wilson (Henry IV, All Americans) as Freddy and Carmen Zilles (Fefu and her friends) as Aran. Rounding out the company are understudy Glenna Brucken, Julie Boyd, Luis Moreno, Daniel Morgan Shelley, Dale Place and Raquel Chavez.

The new play follows a group of old friends who gather to revive a forgotten tradition, only to yearn for answers when the guest of honor arrives unusually late. The work premiered at Ireland’s Druid Theater in 2019.

Rafaeli’s creative team includes set designer John Lee Beatty, Tony 2022-winning costume designer Montana Levi Blanco, lighting designer Isabella Byrd, and composer and sound designer Daniel Kluger. Roxana Khan is stage manager and the production was cast by Daniel Swee.

Next up at LCT’s Claire Tow Theater is Aya Ogawa’s The nosebleed, an autobiographical piece that explores Ogawa’s fractured relationship with her late and enigmatic father through a series of vignettes. The work begins on July 16 with the premiere on August 1.
