CBS Reveals Fall 2022 Schedule, ‘Ghosts’ Coupled With ‘Young Sheldon’

CBS has unveiled its fall 2022 schedule, which largely maintains the schedule the channel laid out last season.

The network is heavily focused on drama programming this year, with only four comedies on the fall schedule. CBS has picked up four new dramas for next season while also passing on all of their comedy pilots. To that end, comedy programs are only shown on CBS on Mondays and Thursdays. Three of the new dramas – Fire Country, East New York and So Help Me Todd – will bid farewell this fall, while the series adaptation of True Lies is slated for the mid-season.

Both Monday and Tuesday evenings remain the same as last fall. Monday begins with comedy The Neighborhood, followed by Bob Hearts Abishola, with NCIS and NCIS: Hawaii finishing the night in the 9:00 p.m. ET and 10:00 p.m. ET time slots, respectively. Tuesdays are still part of Dick Wolf’s “FBI” franchise, with “FBI” airing first at 8 p.m., followed by “FBI: International” and “FBI: Most Wanted.”

There are some shifts Wednesday night setting up a three-hour block of unscripted programming. Network mainstays ‘Survivor’ and ‘The Amazing Race’ lead the night, followed by new series ‘The Real Love Boat’. Adapted from the hit ’70s series The Love Boat, the reality dating show brings singles together on a cruise ship in the hope of finding love.

Thursday starts again with “Young Sheldon” at 8:00 p.m., but the CBS comedy breakout hit “Ghosts” then follows the “Big Bang Theory” prequel at 8:30 p.m., a show of confidence that the broadcaster continues its second season in the series. New legal drama So Help Me Todd, starring Marcia Gay Harden and Skyler Astin, will then debut at 9 p.m., while CSI: Vegas is pushed back to 10 p.m. Thursday, as opposed to last season’s Wednesday.

On Fridays, “SWAT” returns to the 8 p.m. time slot. It originally occupied that spot last fall but was moved to Sunday nights mid-season. Fire Country, which stars SEAL Team graduate Max Thieriot and is inspired by his life in Northern California’s Tierra del Fuego, follows at 9 p.m. Everyone’s favorite drama “Blue Bloods” stays at 10pm

CBS encores and episodes of “48 Hours” are shown on Saturdays. On Sundays, “60 Minutes” and “The Equalizer” remain at 7 p.m. and 8 p.m. Then follows the police drama “East New York” at 9 p.m., with “NCIS: Los Angeles” ending the night again at 10 p.m

All new and returning series stream live and on-demand on Paramount+.

“CBS had another incredible season. In addition to our repeat as America’s most-watched network, we’ve launched several breakout hits, not to mention gains and improvements at many periods in our schedule,” said Kelly Kahl, president of CBS Entertainment. “For the new season, we’ve again looked at ways to strengthen our position with new, compelling series, strategically planning them to ensure sampling and maximize consistency and flow. We believe these great new shows, returning hits and robust events schedule position us for another successful year.”

Later in the season, CBS will host the NFL playoffs beginning in January and the NCAA Division I men’s basketball championship in March. CBS will also once again be home to the Grammys, CMT Music Awards and Kennedy Center Honors.

The broadcast network is also gearing up to launch unscripted shows Superfan, Lingo, the return of Tough as Nails, and Secret Celebrity Renovation.

Finally, CBS will air three original Christmas movies this year: When Christmas Was Young, Fit for Christmas, and Must Love Christmas.
