Rounds of the last 32 were played in men’s singles badminton on Thursday and India had a clean day as both Lakshya Sen and Kidambi Srikanth cleared their first hurdle and advanced to the round of 16. Lakshya Sen defeated Vernon Smeed in straight sets by a score of 21-4, 21-5. Meanwhile, Srikanth won his match against Daniel Wanagaliya also in straight sets by a score of 21-9, 21-9.
In the pre-quarterfinals, Kidambi Srikanth meets Dumindu Abeywickrama while Lakshya Sen meets Yingxiang Lin.
