Enjoy an evening under the stars at summer concerts and film series in Loveland, Windsor and Fort Collins

It’s summer and the best place to be outside to enjoy the fresh air and sunshine. With Colorado’s shaky weather, getting outside as much as possible is a priority for many people.

Because of this, some local towns and cities have moved some events that are primarily indoors to outdoors, with summer concerts and film series.

The Rialto Theater’s 2022 Loveland Summer Concert Series begins Thursday, July 7 at 6:30 p.m. at the Foote Lagoon Amphitheater at 500 E. 3rd St. with a performance by the Blue Canyon Boys.

On Thursday, July 14, a cappella group 17th Avenue Allstars will entertain the audience.

Local musician Wendy Woo and her band are scheduled to perform on Thursday July 21st, with the Dale Cisek Band concluding the series on Thursday July 28th.

In addition to live music, the concert includes children’s activities, food trucks, a beer garden and a market in the market square.

The free concerts are held every Thursday through July 28th. All ages are invited to attend and seating in the amphitheater is available on a first come, first served basis.

If your Thursdays are already filled with fun things to do, check out the annual Sounds of Centerra Concert Series, held at Chapungu Sculpture Park every Friday throughout July at 7pm. The park is located on the corner of Centerra Parkway and Kendall Parkway in Loveland.

The first concert of the season begins on Friday July 8th with a performance by Soul School. The band specializes in funk, R&B and soul music that gets everyone in the family moving and feeling the groove.

The Friday, July 15 concert celebrates the 80’s with the $6 million band. The band will play the best hits from the 80’s that will have you dancing the night away.

Country and rock band Narrow Gauge are scheduled to perform on Friday, July 22nd.

The series ends on a high when Stone Beat Invasion comes in to play classic rock.

Heaven’s Popcorn and Paradice Ice Cream will be on hand selling all manner of goodies, and the Larimer Humane Society, along with Big Bones Canine Rescue, will be bringing out some four-legged friends for some pre-show fun.

Participants are encouraged to bring beach chairs or blankets and either have dinner at one of the surrounding restaurants or bring a picnic dinner.

Over in Windsor, the city has started its annual concert series, which takes place in Boardwalk Park. The series is slightly longer than the two Loveland concert series and takes place every Thursday at 6:30pm through August 18th.

This year, the city has put together an amazing lineup that includes Canadian country singer Corb Lund and Boulder’s FACE Vocal Band.

As with the Loveland concert series, the free event invites visitors of all ages to come out with their lawn chairs or blankets and enjoy an evening of music under the stars. Cool boxes with non-alcoholic drinks and food are permitted, as are dogs that are properly leashed.

The Windsor Summer Concert Series schedule is as follows:

Garden City will host the sixth annual Bootleggin' Days Brewfest, featuring the Face Vocal Band among many other performances, activities and of course beer and drinks.  The event begins at 5 p.m. Friday and 12 p.m. Saturday in Garden City.  It is free.

Colorado State University is celebrating 25 years of outdoor live music with its Lagoon Summer Concert Series at 6:30 p.m. every Wednesday night through July 27 on the west lawn of the university’s Lorry Student Center, 1101 Center Ave. Mall, FortCollins.

The lineup of artists for July is:

  • Wednesday 6 July – Christine Alice
  • Wednesday 13 July – Clark Street Station
  • Wednesday July 20 – Rusty 44
  • Wednesday July 27 – Wendy Woo

The series will feature a different food truck each week offering a variety of appetizers, snacks and drinks.

The free concert series is open to all ages, and attendees are welcome to bring beach chairs or blankets, coolers with soft drinks and food, and well-behaved dogs on leash.

Live music isn’t the only thing families can enjoy outdoors this summer. With the popularity of inflatable cinema screens, outdoor cinemas have become a popular event in parks.

In addition to its concert series, the City of Windsor is hosting Movies in the Park at 8:30pm on select Fridays through September 4th in the city’s three parks – Eastman Park, Main Park and Boardwalk Park.

As with the concert series, all ages are welcome to attend and bring snacks and soft drinks to enjoy while relaxing in a lawn chair or stretching out on a blanket.

The feature film being filmed for Friday, July 8th is “Surf’s Up” and this screening will be at Boardwalk Park, 100 N. 5th St.

The series is moving to Main Park at 300 Locust St. on Friday, July 22 to show family favorite “Shrek.”

On Friday, August 5, join the community members at Boardwalk Park, 100 N. 5th St. to see “Sing.”

The series concludes with “Little Rascals” on Friday, September 4 at 8 p.m. at Eastman Park, 7025 Eastman Park Drive.

The Promenade Shops at Centerra will also be hosting an outdoor film series, Movies on Main, every Friday in July at 7:30pm in the Main Plaza next to the Build-A-Bear Workshop, 5957 Sky Pond Drive.

The event includes free popcorn and cotton candy while supplies last.

The free event is open to all ages, and film junkies can bring beach chairs, blankets, and coolers with soft drinks and snacks.

The first planned film in the series is Disney’s Encanto on Friday July 1st, followed by Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle on Friday July 8th.

Friday July 15th will feature a screening of Sing2 and prepare to embrace your inner ABBA fan when the series screens Mamma Mia! on Friday 22 July.

The series will end with a screening of the original “Footloose” on a high with some fun.
