Alexander Mattison leaves Tuesday’s training session with a finger injury

Fantasy Impact: Mattison appeared to have injured his finger and left practice after starter Dalvin Cook previously left with an apparent hand injury. Third-row running back Kene Nwangwu missed practice on Monday before also missing Tuesday, leaving the Vikings’ backfield battered in camp. The Vikings seem wary of Cook and Mattison this early in camp. While Mattison and Cook’s injuries are likely minor, they’re worth watching as Mattison’s fantasy value as a handcuff depends almost entirely on Cook’s health. In six career games in Minnesota without Cook, Mattison has 117 carries for 477 yards and three rushing touchdowns, with an additional 23 receptions for 213 yards and two touchdowns.

Michael Carter with a minor ankle injury

Fantasy Impact: Carter is reportedly struggling with an ankle injury that is affecting some of his camp representatives. It’s considered minor, so this shouldn’t be a big concern for fantasy managers. However, the situation in New York is something to keep an eye on as RB’s Breece Hall and Michael Carter battle it out for first place.

Dalvin Cook leaves training on Tuesday with a hand injury

Vikings running back Dalvin Cook left practice Tuesday with what appears to be a hand injury, according to the Star Tribune’s Mark Craig. (Source: Mark Craig, Star Tribune)

Fantasy Impact: Cook returned for a snap before watching the rest of practice from the sidelines. Cook’s backup Alexander Mattison later left training with a finger injury. Third-row running back Kene Nwangwu missed practice on Monday before also missing Tuesday, leaving the Vikings’ backfield battered in camp. The Vikings appear to be playing it safe with their Bell Cow backs, but any injury is something to keep an eye on with the often injured running back as camp goes on. The hand issue needs to be watched as Cook is expected to be more involved in the passing game this season.
