Football Queensland announces the 2022 FQ Community Cup

Football Queensland (FQ) has confirmed the details of the 2022 FQ Community Cup to be held at Maroochydore FC on the Sunshine Coast from Tuesday 20th September to Friday 23rd September.

The four-day event, run in partnership with the Sunshine Coast Council and Visit Sunshine Coast, will welcome over 700 younger boys and girls from all ten regions of Queensland to compete.

“Football Queensland is delighted to announce the details of the 2022 FQ Community Cup which we are pleased to host in partnership with the Sunshine Coast Council and Visit Sunshine Coast,” said FQ President Ben Richardson.

“A highlight of the Queensland football calendar, the tournament brings together players, coaches and umpires from across the state, as well as their families, who can not only enjoy the action on the field but also explore the many visitor attractions on the Sunshine Coast during their stay .”

At the nationwide carnival there are age groups U13, U14 and U15/16 for boys and U13/14 and U15/16/17 for girls.

“The FQ Community Cup is a valuable development opportunity not only for our junior players but also for young referees by providing the experience of officiating at a carnival and being mentored by high-level officials,” said Robert Cavallucci, CEO of FQ.

“With over 1,500 visitors expected and MiniRoos and Walking Football sessions taking place alongside games, there will be football fun for all the family and opportunities for everyone to get involved.

“On behalf of Football Queensland I would like to thank the Sunshine Coast Council, Visit Sunshine Coast and Maroochydore FC for their support in planning and running this year’s FQ Community Cup.

“The Sunshine Coast is a premier sporting destination and is home to many attractions that will keep families busy throughout the four-day tournament.

“We are delighted to be working with the Council and Visit Sunshine Coast to bring this event to the region and look forward to welcoming members of our football community to the beautiful Sunshine Coast this September.”
