In the midst of a crazy year with four majors, The return of Tiger Woods and a new league in LIV Golf, the PGA Tour season has made the playoffs.

The three-week FedEx Cup Playoffs begin Thursday with the 2022 FedEx St. Jude Championship. From there, the playoffs will continue the following weekend with the BMW Championship and conclude later this month with the Tour Championship.

The FedEx Cup Playoffs feature a progressive cut, meaning the field shrinks with each playoff event. Only 30 golfers make it to the Tour Championship, where they compete in a “Starting Strokes” system to determine a champion.

Scottie Scheffler sits at the top of the playoff rankings after scoring four PGA Tour wins in 2022, including his first at the master. follows him British Open Winner Cameron Smith in second place. Defending champion Patrick Cantlay goes into this year’s post-season in fifth place.

Tony Finau, who is seventh overall, won the first event of last year’s playoffs. That was the Northern Trust, however, and they have never won at the course they compete at this weekend.

The tournament will be held from Thursday, August 11th through Sunday, August 14th at the TPC Southwind in Memphis, Tennessee.

What TV Network Is Running The 2022 FedEx St. Jude Championship?

NBC and Golf Channel will share broadcasting responsibilities for the event.

Golf Channel will have full coverage of the event on Thursday and Friday, along with early weekend coverage. NBC will have most of the action on Saturday and Sunday.

  • Friday, August 12: 3-7pm ET on Golf Channel

The groups for the first two rounds of the event were determined by the FedEx Cup standings. The top three golfers are grouped together, Nos. 4-6 are together and so on.

Can LIV golfers participate in the 2022 FedEx St. Jude Championship?

Players who have joined LIV Golf will not participate in the FedEx Cup Playoffs.

A federal judge in California ruled on Tuesday that three suspended LIV golfers who are seeking an injunction are barred from playing in the playoffs. Talor Gooch, Matt Jones and Hudson Swafford each wrote letters to the PGA Tour in July claiming they should be allowed to play where they wanted because they were a “free agent and independent contractor.”

All three of those players are also among a group of 11 who submitted one antitrust lawsuit against the PGA Tour.
