Jets 2022 schedule: prediction of every game, record prediction, opponents’ overall wins and more

Last season, the New York Jets bottomed the barrel team and finished the regular season with a 4-13 record. Their only wins came against the Tennessee Titans, Cincinnati Bengals, Houston Texans and Jacksonville Jaguars.

The Jets aren’t predicted to have a playoff-caliber season in 2022, but the changes they’ve made make it very possible at least Get more than four wins. Maybe five? Caesars Sportsbook put the Jets’ over/under win total at 5.5.

I still see them bottom in the AFC East, but they’ve had enough wins and close losses to stay out of the bottom of the league.

Here’s a look at each opponent the Jets face this season, along with predictions for the game and their opponents’ total over/under wins:

Opponent’s Overall Victory: O/U 9.5
Spread: Ravens -4.5

Last year the Ravens didn’t have their best season as injuries plagued the team, but I expect them to bounce back this season. Week 1 they should be the healthiest they’ve been in a while and quarterback Lamar Jackson will start the season strong with something to prove.

Forecast: Lose Jets
Recording: 0-1

Opponent’s Overall Victory: O/U 9.5

The Browns are a bit chaotic this season and who their quarterback will be in Week 1 is still unknown. Deshaun Watson is expected to be suspended for the start of the season on off-field grounds after he was accused of sexual misconduct by 22 women. The Jets have a chance against the Browns depending on how quickly Cleveland can resolve their QB issues. If the Jets get an early season win, it could be.

Forecast: Jets win a close game
Recording: 1-1

Week 3: vs. Cincinnati Bengals

Opponent’s Overall Victory: O/U 9.5

The Bengals are coming off their best season in a long Time and quarterback Joe Burrow proved he’s the real deal. The Bengals are a major AFC threat and the Jets are, well, not a threat. The Jets defeated the Bengals last season, but history will not repeat itself.

Forecast: Lose Jets
Recording: 1-2

Opponent’s Overall Victory: O/U 7.5

The Steelers’ first few weeks in the new look will tell. The team will have a new quarterback for the first time in well over a decade after veteran Ben Roethlisberger retired this offseason. If Kenny Pickett starts this season, this game would be only his fourth NFL game and the Jets could use that to their advantage. Despite the uncertainty surrounding the Pittsburgh quarterback situation, I still give it to the black and gold.

Forecast: Lose Jets
Recording: 1-3

Opponent’s Overall Victory: O/U 8.5

The Jets haven’t defeated a division opponent in two years, the worst division record of any team in the past two seasons. This could be her year to finally claim the AFC East victory. The Dolphins added some key players like Tyreek Hill, but I see Miami as a team that starts slow and ends strong. If I were to pick one surprise Jets win of the year, it would be against the ‘Fins.

Forecast: Jets win in a tight game
Recording: 2-3

Opponent’s Overall Victory: O/U 11

Two words: Aaron. Rodgers. Do I need to say any more? Plus, this game is in Green Bay and I don’t give the Jets much of a chance. The Packers have lost some key players on offense. So if this was a more even matchup, that could be a major factor, but Rodgers will do what he does best and the Jets will walk away with a blowout loss.

Forecast: Lose Jets
Recording: 2-4

Opponent’s Overall Victory: O/U 10

The Broncos now have Russell Wilson as quarterback, giving them the best chance they’ve had to win in a while. Mile High isn’t an easy place to play, so add it all up and it equates to another Jets loss.

Forecast: Lose Jets
Recording: 2-5

Opponent’s Overall Victory: O/U 8.5

Mac Jones had a solid season last year and year 2 should only improve. While there have been coaching changes in New England that could affect offense, I don’t see Bill Belichick’s roster losing to this Jets team.

Forecast: Lose Jets
Recording: 2-6

Opponent’s Overall Victory: O/U 11.5

The Bills are going into the season as one of the best teams, not just in the AFC but in the league, and I don’t expect that to change by Week 9. Buffalo won’t lose many games, and of the ones they lose, none will belong to the Jets.

Forecast: Lose Jets
Recording: 2-7

Week 10: Bye week

The Jets are guaranteed not to add an L to their record in Week 10, which is a win for them.

Week 11: with the New England Patriots

Opponent’s Overall Victory: O/U 8.5

The Jets will come to New England to even the streak against Bill Belichick and co. and could still be looking for their first division win in two years.

Forecast: Lose Jets
Recording: 2-8

Opponent’s Overall Victory: O/U 6.5

The league isn’t completely sold on quarterback Justin Fields, the offensive line isn’t great, offense in general isn’t something to get excited about with few guns for Fields, and they haven’t got anyone in the draft that makes enough of you A hit. The Jets need to win some games, right? This will be one of the more achievable wins on their schedule and I will give it to the home team.

Forecast: Jets win
Recording: 3-8

Opponent’s Overall Victory: O/U 9

The Vikings are a team that I go back and forth with a lot. They have their moments when they’re great, they have guns in Dalvin Cook and Justin Jefferson, but they’re not reliable at all. Even taking all of that into account, the Vikings are clearly the better team here, even with the Jets’ off-season additions.

Forecast: Lose Jets
Recording: 3-9

Week 14: at Buffalo Bills

Opponent’s Overall Victory: O/U 11.5

The Bills will be playoff favorites at this point and the Jets will be out of contention. Bills quarterback Josh Allen will participate in MVP talks and Jets quarterback Zach Wilson will not participate in the same conversation. The Bills will beat the Jets this year and they’ll make it look easy, especially in front of their home crowd.

Forecast: Lose Jets
Recording: 3-10

Opponent’s Overall Victory: O/U 6

Despite last season’s 3-13-1, there is some hope for the Lions this year. I think this will be an improved Detroit team, but I’m also careful not to get it to taken with the team. I think this is a point where the Jets could record back-to-back wins, which they failed to do last season since they started at home against Detroit

Forecast: Jets win
Recording: 4-10

Week 16: vs. Jacksonville Jaguars

Opponent’s Overall Victory: O/U 6.5

This is another game the Jets could take over. New York beat the Jags 26-21 last season and I expect they will do it again this year. If they can defeat the Lions and gain some momentum, they could finally win two games in a row.

Forecast: Jets win
Recording: 5-10

Opponent’s Overall Victory: O/U 6

Could they do it three times in a row? Never say Never. By this point in the season, Seattle’s quarterback question should have been answered, although right now, not having an answer feels like a big win. Pete Carroll says Geno Smith has a “head start” over Drew Lock. The team hasn’t drafted a quarterback despite the rumors and has shown little interest in Baker Mayfield. Pete Carroll has proven himself in many ways as a coach, but this could turn into a total mess. This is a close question in my opinion, but I give the advantage to the Hawks.

Forecast: Jets lose a tight game
Recording:
5-11

Week 18: at the Miami Dolphins

Opponent’s Overall Victory: O/U 8.5

The Week 18 games are interesting because realistically, both teams could be well out of the playoff talk by now. I give these to Miami who I believe will have grown together as a team and will have made the necessary improvements by the end of the regular season. I have the jets ending the year with a tick in the “L” column just like last year.

Forecast: Lose Jets
Recording: 5-12
