Juventus are reportedly targeting a shock move for Arsenal star Gabriel Magalhaes in the upcoming summer transfer window.
The Gunners are set to miss out on Champions League football after suffering back-to-back defeats to Tottenham and Newcastle last week, leaving Mikel Arteta’s side one-game in fifth place. The Brazilian defender has been a mainstay in Arsenal’s defense since joining the club two years ago, alongside Ben White, who signed in the summer.
According to Tuttosport via Sport Witness, Juve are keen to sign Gabriel to bolster their defense with club legend Giorgio Chiellini set to leave at the end of the season. William Saliba enjoyed a superb season on loan at Marseille and was named Ligue 1 Young Player of the Year. Arteta will now have to make a decision this summer on how his defense will develop ahead of next season.

It’s looking increasingly likely Arsenal will be struggling for a place in the top four after devastating defeats in the north London derby and away at Newcastle on Sunday, leaving the Gunners needing the already-relegated Norwich to secure a positive result on the final day against to score the spurs. Missing out on Champions League football could have a significant financial impact on Arsenal’s summer transfer business, affecting both the club’s revenue and spending.
Arsenal have been consistently linked with Juve stars in the past, including Arthur Melo, Paulo Dybala and Dusan Vlahovic, all of whom are said to have been on the Gunners’ shortlist at different points in time. The return of William Saliba, who has performed well on loan at Marseille this season, could help soften Gabriel’s loss by being a ready-to-go replacement should the Brazilian be swayed by the old lady’s interest.
Arsenal would demand a significantly higher fee than the £20million paid by Lille for Gabriel in 2020, given the Brazilian’s development and his three years remaining on his current deal at the Emirates Stadium. With the likes of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Mesut Ozil and Henrikh Mkhitaryan all leaving for free in the past, Arsenal could take advantage of selling one of their star players for a hefty fee and reinvest that in other areas of the squad that will take him badly need , like the forward position.
