The New York Yankees clinched a 7-2 win over the Seattle Mariners on Monday night and they will face Logan Gilbert twice in a row. Jameson Taillon is the likely starter for the Yanks, and both pitchers have been in fine form in their last few starts. Our experts looked at the odds for Tuesday’s competition, provided by DraftKings Sportsbook, and placed the best bet on the game total.

The New York Yankees won the first game of the series 7-2 Monday night and are -165 favorites in tonight’s rematch at DraftKings Sportsbook. Seattle is a +140 underdog on Tuesday and the total (over/under) for the matchup is 8.5. Both sides of the total have -110 odds, meaning a $11 bet on the Under returns $10 in profit if there are 8 or fewer runs, while a $11 bet on the Over returns $10 if Seattle and New York together score 9 or more points. Our experts targeted the total for their best bet on Tuesday night, and we’ll explain why.

The Yankees’ offense has been a juggernaut this season and very few pitchers have had success against them, but Logan Gilbert could be first. Gilbert will start for Seattle, and he’s 10-4 with a 2.78 ERA in 21 appearances this season. Gilbert has impressed even more on the road as he carries a 2.47 ERA and the Mariners are 9-3 in his 12 away starts this season.
Jameson Taillon will start Tuesday night for New York, who holds a 3.72 ERA and 10-2 record in 20 appearances this year. Taillon was particularly strong at Yankee Stadium as his ERA is just 3.16 and he had 6.0 scoreless innings in his last start that ended in a 1-0 win over the Kansas City Royals.
We considered backing Seattle’s moneyline as our best bet for Tuesday because Gilbert gives the Mariners the best chance of defeating the Yankees, but New York’s lineup is too talented. However, we expect both pitchers to be excellent, and 8 of Gilbert’s 12 road starts have ended under 8.5 runs, while 7 of Taillon’s 11 starts at Yankee Stadium also ended under that total. Both trends should continue and we’re placing under 8.5 runs as our best bet for Tuesday’s matchup in New York.
