Best Medicine Representative, The Gaithersburg professional theater company is proud to announce the plays selected for their sixth season, the final year at their current location in Lake Forest Shopping Center. “This is going to be a fun season,” says writer and artistic director John Morogiello. “The scripts showcase a wide range of comic themes and styles. Our audience will love them.”

The season 6 prelude is on The trip by Crystal V Rhodes. Four lifelong friends, twenty years apart, embark on two hilarious road trips. Can they rebuild the bridge that connected them without drowning in the water beneath it? The production is running September 9 – October 2, 2022. It’s a fun ensemble comedy directed by Yvonne Paretzky.

“We should present The trip last season,” notes director Paretzky, “but the Omicron variant had other plans. We are very excited to have the opportunity to finally bring this wonderful piece to the stage.”

the next production Rapunzarella White, is something new for Best Medicine Rep: a family musical. Written by June Rachelson Ospa and Daniel Neiden, the play throws three different fairy tales into a comic book mixer to great effect. The production will run November 26 – December 11, 2022 on an all-matinee program.

The Best Medicine Rep’s dedication to the Emmy-winner’s work Ken Levin return to our next production, America’s sexiest couple. The play is about two aging sitcom actors who are reunited to see if the spark they felt growing up was true or just being played. America’s sexiest couple runs January 6-22, 2023and is managed by Kathleen Bart.

Out of February 24 – March 19, 2023Best Med presents the world premiere of John Morogiello In the gutterdirected by Crowd Favorite Stan Levin. The play is a fantastic film noir parody, with money, murder and a nosy neighbor played by another crowd pleaser Rebecca A Herron.

The season ends with another play-by John Morogiello, Blame Beckett. Located in the literature office of a state theater Blame it on BecketIt’s a comedy about office politics, ambition and the need to read bad scripts. It runs April 28 – May 21, 2023.

“Beckett is something we’ve always wanted to produce,” Morogiello jokes, “it’s one of my plays that’s been quite successful in the US and UK. In fact, it was performed by a local amateur theater a few years ago. We thought enough time had passed. I mean if theaters can produce A Midsummer Night’s Dream every single year they can endure beckett all seven.”
