Odd Taxi Releases New Synopsis For In The Woods Movie

Odd Taxi was one of the most surprising anime debuts of 2021, and it followed its anime debut with the even more surprising feature film, which thanks to Crunchyroll will finally be upon us later this summer. With Odd Taxi: In the Woods now upon us, the feature film has received a new synopsis to tease what to expect from the mysterious new project. The original Odd Taxi anime series was such a hit when it debuted that its feature film did very well when it hit theaters across Japan. But it’s been a while since then, and soon international fans will also get the chance to see the film.

Crunchyroll has officially announced their Summer 2022 anime season schedule and confirmed that they will be streaming Strange Taxi: In the forest sometime in the next few months. While there’s no concrete release date for the new movie just yet, they’ve revealed more about what fans can expect from the mysterious film that ties into the events of the original anime series, with a new synopsis that gives us the best tease for the new movie yet.

Crunchyroll’s official description for Strange Taxi: In the forest begins like this: β€œThe wayward and taciturn Odokawa drives around the city as a privately owned taxi driver, doing his best to avoid associating with others as he leads an ordinary life. However, he is unexpectedly dragged into the Nerima Ward Missing High School Girl case one day. Also, people around him are starting to make ominous claims about him, like hearing voices coming from his apartment, despite the fact that he is said to be living alone.”

The description continues, “Over 100 million yen, gangsters with mysterious motives, aspiring idols, a college student-turned-celebrity, and various other elements are thrown into the mix as the situation spirals out of control.” Despite everything, the execution of a certain plan settles the situation at once. With much sadness and absurdity, the series of events was resolved…or so it seemed. ”

Finally, the synopsis teases more about what happened after the events of the original series: “After the case ended, the people involved testified about what they saw behind the scenes and what really happened when the case emerges. The events that turned a cab driver’s life upside down are changing shape, and the cogs of the future are once again faltering.”
