A movie theater in Oklahoma issued a warning about the same-sex kiss starring in Pixar’s new film light year film and tells the parents to fast forward the scene.

light year, the new toy story The spin-off, which tells the origin story of Buzz Lightyear, has garnered international controversy for briefly showing two women kissing at the beginning of the film. The 89-ER Theater in Kingfisher, a town about 50 miles northwest of Oklahoma City, posted a message about the scene on the building’s window and urged moviegoers to post pictures of the sign on social media.

“Parents, the management of this theater discovered after booking ‘Lightyear’ that there was a same-sex kissing scene within the first 30 minutes of the Pixar film,” the message reads. “We’re going to do everything we can to fast-forward through this scene, but it may not be accurate. We apologize for any inconvenience caused by this late discovery of this scene.”

The sign was reportedly put up over the weekend of June 17 but apparently wasn’t well received: Local NBC affiliate KFOR quoted a parent who decided to take their child to a different theater to see it light year, He explained that the sign’s message incites “fear” among LGBTQ+ people. By June 20, the sign had been removed.

Kingfisher wasn’t the only place where an issue was identified light years same sex kissing scene. Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates have completely banned the film. Still, Disney’s recording of the kiss was a concerted effort to win back the goodwill of the LGBTQ+ community after reports that the company had donated to every sponsor of Florida’s Don’t Say Gay law — the scene was off by then Film cut out Pixar employees publicly accused the company of censorship.
