CROMWELL – A new series of exclusive field events, fewer players qualifying for the FedExCup Playoffs, increased purses and the end of the all-around PGA Tour schedule are among the changes announced by PGA Tour Commissioner Jay Monahan on announced Wednesday afternoon.
Monahan laid out the tour’s detailed schedule at the Travelers Championship, which was presented to players in a lengthy meeting Tuesday morning. The increase in purses and the addition of these field-exclusive events is in response to the LIV Golf Invitational Series seeking and securing PGA Tour players to participate in their Tour for significant prize money and reportedly, in some cases, significant bonuses for attending to obtain.
