It’s an exciting time for Pokémon fans with the upcoming Pokémon World Championship 2022 set to begin later this month. For those interested in attending the event and want to know the details beforehand, you’ve come to the right place.

We’re going to go over everything you need to know about the Pokémon World Cup 2022. From the way you can watch them and their schedule to the format and prizes that will be available to those who make it to the top of the competition, so let’s get started right away.

During the recent Pokémon Presents event, we got a breakdown of what to expect from the upcoming Pokémon World Championship 2022. The event schedule has been broken down with the event starting on August 18th and ending on August 21st, 2022.

The event will take place in London and will be hosted at the ExCel London convention center with the hosts of eh expecting thousands of players to compete in person in a variety of games. For those attending in person, arrivals on 17th August 2022 will be given a welcome pack collection and check-in starts at 4pm GMT / 5pm BST.

If you’re watching the event, you can tune in to Pokémon’s official Twitch channel for full daily coverage of the event. There will also be certain events to prepare for as we have listed below for your convenience.

Pokémon World Championship 2022 format

Pokémon TCG, video game, and Pokémon UNITE players can earn Championship Points by participating in tournaments during the Championship Series season to qualify for World Championships. Pokémon Trading Card Game (TCG) and video game players must have a minimum number of Championship Points based on age group and regional zone to be invited.

The best players will automatically advance to day two and some will receive travel awards for the competition. Pokémon UNITE players are eligible under a slightly modified championship point system. Visit the Pokémon UNITE Championship Series page for more information.

Throughout the season, Pokémon GO and Pokémon Tekken DX players will compete in qualifying tournaments for a chance at a direct world invite. The top participants in these qualifiers will also receive a travel award to the event.

Pokémon World Championship 2022 Prizes

There are different prizes up for grabs depending on the championship players are participating in. The manner in which the prize will be awarded will also depend on the age of the winner, primarily whether they are over or under 18, as shown below:

18 years and older

  • Awards of $5,000 or more: Choice of bursary or cash

  • Awards under $5,000: Cash

Under 18 years

  • Awards of $5,000 or more: Choice of scholarship or Pokémon Visa® prepaid card

  • Prices under $5,000: Pokémon Visa® prepaid card
