Syracuse Football started 2021 with a 3-1 record before losing six of their last eight games to finish 5-7, missing a bowl game. However, QB Garrett Shrader and RB Sean Tucker will return this season, and head coach Dino Babers likely needs a successful season if he’s going to remain in charge for the foreseeable future. Our experts analyzed their 2022 regular season schedule and made the best bet on Orange using odds provided by FanDuel Sportsbook.

Syracuse Football wins overall and betting odds

Syracuse starts the season as a strong underdog in the ACC. They are odds of 250-1 to win the ACC and 120-1 to win the ACC Atlantic. Both successes seem unlikely for Orange, but our experts have aimed for their overall wins (over/under), which is 4.5 on FanDuel Sportsbook.

The over is priced at -115 while the under is priced at -105. A $115 bet on the Over returns $100 in winnings if Syracuse manages 5 or more wins, while a $105 bet on the Under returns $100 if they win 4 or fewer contests. Our experts reviewed Syracuse’s 2022 schedule and made the best bet.

Syracuse 2022 football schedule

The Orange have a tough opening game against Louisville, but it’s in the Carrier Dome and they’ll be hungry to avenge their 41-17 away loss to the Cardinals at the end of last season. The entire Syracuse schedule this season is here:

  • September 3 – against Louisville
  • September 10th – at UConn
  • September 17 – vs. Purdue
  • September 23 – vs. Virginia
  • 1 Oct – against Wagner
  • October 15 – vs. North Carolina State
  • 22 October – at Clemson
  • Oct 29 – vs Notre Dame
  • November 5th – Pittsburgh
  • November 12 – vs. Florida State
  • November 19th – at Wake Forest
  • November 26th – at Boston College

Syracuse are currently 3.5 point underdogs in the FanDuel against Louisville to open the year but they will be heavy favorites in Week 2 against UConn. The middle part of their season is the most difficult part, with home games against NC State and Notre Dame accompanied by road competitions against Clemson and Pittsburgh. Although this is the case, our experts predict that the Orange can succeed throughout the rest of the schedule to get at least 5 wins.

Sean Tucker and Syracuse’s offensive is ready for 2022

The Syracuse football program had a disappointing end to the 2021 season after starting the year 3-1. Head coach Dino Babers is now entering his seventh season in charge, and after a 1-10 season in 2020, the Orange rebounded and went 5-7 down in 2021. QB Garrett Shrader and RB Sean Tucker were a deadly duo last year. The pair rushed for over 2,200 combined yards and totaled 26 rushing touchdowns.

The Orange will likely remain an attack-heavy offense, but new offense coordinator Robert Anae should speed up their attack and we expect their 24.9 points per game to improve from 2021 onwards. Overall, Schrader and Syracuse’s pass attack should be more effective and if they continue their stormy dominance from last season, the Oranges could surprise the ACC’s defense.

Syracuse Orange Football defensive prospects

Only Clemson allowed fewer yards per game than Syracuse in the ACC last season, and we expect they can do at a similar level this year. Although they lost some players in secondary school, defenders Alijah Clark (transfer from Rutgers) and Bralyn Oliver (transfer from Louisville) should fill the void.

The pass rush will likely be a strength for Syracuse as linebackers Stefon Thompson and Marlowe Wax return after combining for 11 sacks last season. The Syracuse defense didn’t play that well against the ACC competition last season, but we can see they should improve in 2022 and play well enough to keep every game competitive.

Syracuse Football Wins Overall Over/Under Prediction: Over 4.5 Regular Season Wins (-115 on FanDuel Sportsbook)

Syracuse’s schedule this season is a bit different than last year, as their first matchup against Louisville won’t be as easy as their 2021 opener against Ohio. However, we think the orange can pull off the surprise before they claim their second win against UConn. Playing Wagner at home in Week 5 should also be a win, meaning Syracuse would need two more wins to reach 5 a field goal in the Carrier Dome. Schrader and offense should improve in 2022 and the entire squad will learn from last year’s close defeats.

Syracuse should have at least two wins in its home games against Purdue, Virginia, NC State, Notre Dame and Florida State. Virginia and Florida State seem like the likeliest games Syracuse could win, but we wouldn’t be surprised if they beat the Fighting Irish in late October.

Therefore, we expect Syracuse Football to have at least 5 wins in 2022 and our best bet is over 4.5 wins at odds of -115 on FanDuel Sportsbook.
