Thor: Love and Thunder director Taika Waititi opens up about his upcoming Star Wars movie and jokes about ruining the franchise with Jar Jar Binks’ story.
One of the upcoming installments from Lucasfilm in the ever growing series war of stars Franchise is directed by Thor: Love and Thunder Director Taika Waititi. While he hasn’t been able to discuss the details of his planned film, he recently joked that he was focusing on the prequel trilogy’s infamous Jar Jar Binks.
In an interview on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Waititi was asked if he would ruin the franchise. He replied, “No, I’m not [going to ruin Star Wars]. No I’m not. What if I said yes, I’m going to tell you the story of Jar Jar Binks.”
It’s uncertain where Waititi is in development war of stars project is. In a recent interview, the filmmaker stated, “I’m still writing. I still have ideas and stories and I just wanted to make sure it felt like a Star Wars movie… Because, I could say, ‘Oh yeah, we’ll just write some old thing and put it in space and then put Star Wars on the front.’ But it wouldn’t be a Star Wars movie without certain elements and treatment, so I just have to make sure it stays in that wheelhouse.
It can be assumed from Waititi war of stars The film does not take place in the past of the story, but in its future, after the events of Star Wars: Episode IX – The Rise of Skywalker. That’s according to Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy, who previously said, “We continue to move beyond existing sequels when we look at our film space… The sequel era is what we talk about a lot when it comes to where we are.” we are deciding how far we will go with our films and how far we will deviate from them. That’s very much the area we’re focusing on.
Until the next movie is announced, war of stars Fans can look forward to a collection of upcoming live-action shows releasing on Disney+. These include Andor, Ahsoka, Skeleton Crew, The Acolyte and Landomany of which have been confirmed before they take place war of stars Continuation of the trilogy. Andor, for example, is set to take place five years before the events of Villain One. The series is currently scheduled for release on Disney+ on August 31st.
