The Hershey Bears announce the 2022-23 season action schedule and date for the teddy bear toss game

The Hershey Bears released their promotion schedule for the upcoming 2022-23 season on Wednesday. The team’s season opener will be on Saturday, October 15 at the Giant Center. The first 8,000 fans will receive magnet schedules for the upcoming season. The Bears are also hosting an inaugural night on the red carpet in front of the Giant Center.

Nicknamed the extremely popular Teddy Bear Toss Night Sweet cuddly chaos returns after Zack Fisch’s famous call against the Bridgeport Islanders on Sunday, January 29 at 3:00 p.m.

Last year, Bears fans broke their own 2019 world record by heaving 52,341 stuffed animals onto the ice. Almost five bears per person were thrown onto the ice from the capacity crowd of 10,514.

The recently retired Chris Bourque will have his number 17 retired by Hershey two weeks before January 14, 2023. The team will wear special kits for the game, which will be auctioned afterwards.

Other notable promotional nights include a bobblehead night for the first 4,000 fans on Friday March 3 against the Toronto Marlies – although the featured player has not yet been named. The Bears will also be giving away free shirts to all fans on Saturday, March 4 against the Providence Bruins. Free candy will be given out to fans aged 12 and under during the Halloween Bears Game on October 30th. In addition to Bourque’s retirement of the number on January 14, other special jersey nights will be held on November 20, 2022 and March 26, 2023.

The team will also host a team photo/meet-the-team event against the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins on December 4th. The first 4,000 fans will receive a free team photo to have signed during the 75-minute meet-and-greet with the players after the game.

GIANT Teddy Bear Toss, three Hersheypark Pass Nights and great giveaways highlight the schedule of promotions

(Hershey, PA – August 10, 2022) – The Hershey Bears today announced individual game ticket and major promotional night information for the 2022-23 season, presented by Penn State Health.

Single game tickets for all games at the GIANT Center go public on Thursday, September 1st at 10am. Fans are encouraged to buy and save online – all season long, guests can enjoy the lowest ticket prices and save big when they buy Hershey Bears home game tickets online.

An exclusive season ticket holder presale to purchase tickets to all Hershey Bears home games is taking place on Tuesday, August 30th and Wednesday, August 31st. Further information will be communicated to season ticket holders.

Here are some of the promotional schedule highlights that fans should know if they plan to visit the GIANT Center this season:


The club’s world famous GIANT Teddy Bear Toss returns on Sunday 29th January when the Bears host the Bridgeport Islanders at 3pm. When Hershey scores his first goal of the game, fans would litter the ice with thousands of teddy bears and stuffed animals, which were donated to local charities as part of the club’s Hershey Bears Cares program. Hershey holds the world record for throwing teddy bears and collected 52,341 stuffed animals for local children last season. This particular event has become a worldwide phenomenon and it truly is a game that all fans need to mark on their calendars.


The Bears will again host three Hersheypark Pass Nights next season, with each of those games taking place on a Sunday. All fans attending Hershey’s game on November 13, January 8, or February 26 will receive one-day admission to Hersheypark, valid through June 30, 2023.


The 2022-23 season is Hershey’s 85th anniversary season and the organization will host two special nights to celebrate some of the club’s greatest players. On Saturday, January 14th, the Bears will host Chris Bourque Jersey Retirement Night when Number 17 is lifted to the rafters. The club will also wear a special shirt that night, which will be auctioned off after the game. Additionally, Hall of Fame Night is scheduled for Saturday, March 18, as the Bears will induct the Hershey Bears Hockey Club’s newest Hall of Fame classes.


Hershey will open the 2022-23 season with the PNC Bank Magnet Schedule Night for the first 8,000 fans on Saturday, October 15 against Utica. Additional giveaway highlights including the UGI Bobblehead Night for the first 4,000 fans on Friday March 3rd. The player depicted on the bobblehead is a mystery for now, but details will be released at a later date. Saturday, March 4th is Penn State Health T-Shirt Night for all fans, while Tuesday, April 11th is Fairview Golf Course Bears Logo Chip Night for the first 4,000 fans. More Giveaway Nights are expected to be added to the action plan soon.


The Bears are proud to host Hometown Heroes Night on Saturday, November 12 (Military) and Friday, January 13 (First Responders, presented by ServPro). Hershey will also host Hockey Fights Cancer Night on Sunday, November 20th. A special jersey will be unveiled during this impressive evening and will be auctioned off after the game to help those in need.


The Bears are excited to welcome the return of several popular fan events where members of Bear Nation can meet their favorite players. To kick off the season on opening night on Saturday 15th October, the Club will host a Home Opener Red Carpet Event in front of the GIANT Center. Additionally, Team Autograph Night is back on Sunday, December 4th with a team photo giveaway presented by David A. Smith Printing for the first 5,000 fans. The final game of the regular season on Saturday 15 April is the club’s ever-popular Jerseys Off Our Back night as fans have the chance to win a jersey straight off the back of their favorite Bears player. These events are subject to change based on league protocols.
