THE SECRET GARDEN, GYPSY and more announced for Music Theater Heritage Season 2023

Music Theater Heritage has announced an innovative and exciting 2023 season at the Crown Center. Season 21 of MTH explores stories of family, escapism and love in three different locations. The season includes Tony Award winners, a Kansas City premiere, an original concert production and the comedy series THE RUBY ROOM.

“It’s an exciting time at MTH,” noted MTH Chief Executive & Artistic Director Tim Scott. “Against all odds, 2022 was our greatest season yet. The stories we want to highlight next year in our 21st season are remarkable and underscore the importance of family and the quest for joy in life.”

R&H: Unplugged

Music by Richard Rodgers

February 16 – March 6

An MTH Original Concert Production, the stirring and timeless music of Rodgers & Hart and Rodgers & Hammerstein, detached from the shows, the traditional arrangements and reinterpreted with only acoustic strings in the style/aesthetic of MTV’s “Unplugged”. From the witty, mischievous, and romantic tunes of Rodgers & Hart to the noble and inspirational tunes of Rodgers & Hammerstein, you’d be hard pressed to find three people who have had a more significant influence on American music and theater.

Spectacular Christmas show

December 7th – 23rd

MTH’s annual Christmas show has become a tradition in Kansas City. An original revue with Christmas carols from the Musical Theater, innovative arrangements of Christmas classics and more! A high-energy song and dance extravaganza that has proven to be entertaining and engaging for children aged 1-92.

The Ruby Room series

The Ruby Room Series is a hybrid nightclub/theater experience that celebrates the songs and stories of artists who have had a significant impact on American culture.
