It’s Showtime at the Apollo and Tulsa artist Branjae will kick off her Debut Tour on June 15, 2022 in Harlem, New York at the Apollo Theater’s Amateur Night.

Their visit to New York will kick off a five-state tour of eight dates over the summer. Their first three performances will be in New York at the Bowery Electric and Groove NYC. She will then travel west to perform in Colorado and New Mexico before completing her tour in Oklahoma.

It was a lifetime dream for Branjae Jackson to perform in New York City. “I’m excited. I’m ready,” she told the Black Wall Street Times. “I feel like I’ve wanted to do this my whole life, and it’s something that I just got a lot of talent when I did played in New York City.”

She added that she wanted to show other places the kind of diversity and creativity that Tulsa has in its community. “People don’t really know that we exist in many ways.” She wants people to know what Tulsa sounds like.

Branjae mentioned that the manifestation helped bring Jackson’s dream to life. “Me and my manager did it, and it was really a manifested effort,” Branjae believes that manifestation is a human force. She also mentioned the large number of cold calls and cold emails she and her manager have made to get their music out there, as well as weekly rehearsals with her band to achieve her dreams.

Performance with a message

Branjae and her band will perform an hour-long live set consisting of original music written by her and the band members. The audience can expect a lively performance as it has a dramatic and theatrical performance style.

For them, drama is just storytelling. “I can take on another person in the song or the character, change the songs or the costume. And, you know, it’s just more storytelling. There is a message in the music.”

She wants her music to resonate with her listeners through deep listening. “You know, it’s meant to be listened to and to try and lean into the wisdom of life and learn lessons and grow and become and change and evolve,” she told the Black Wall Street Times. She prefers to tackle real-life issues that deal with mental health, relationships, and everyday issues, but in a creative way.
