The champions answered the bell. Going 2-0 down in Game 3 of the Stanley Cup Finals, the Lightning lost a much-needed 6-2 win over the Avalanche. With the series now tied 2-1, the Lightning are one win away from tying two and pressuring the Avalanche in Game 5.
Andrei Vasilevskiy gave up 11 goals in the first two games of the finals. He came back in Game 3, conceding just two goals and ending with a .949 save rate. Is it that easy for Vasilevskiy to show up and Tampa to win? We’ll find out in Game 4.

What helped Vasilevskiy is that the Lightning offense exploded heavily in Game 3 with six goals from six different players.
“I think that’s how you get to the places we’ve been,” Lightning coach Jon Cooper said after the game. “It’s quite a hassle.”
The effort was excellent, but overall it was just a game. The Lightning will need to replicate that effort if they plan to make it into a series.
