The Golden State Warriors came out and made a statement in Game 1 with their win over the Dallas Mavericks.
Interestingly, Golden State did the most damage on the defensive end of the floor while holding Luka Doncic to just 20 points on 6-of-18 shooting. The Warriors denied it all, with Andrew Wiggins and Draymond Green dealing the most damage to Doncic.
According to ESPNkept Golden State Doncic at just 16.7 percent shooting on controversial field goal attempts, a career playoff low for the Slovenian.
Steve Kerr will be aware that bringing a player of Doncic’s quality back to those numbers will be a difficult task, but the Warriors will look to take a comfortable 2-0 lead in this series.
For the Mavericks, Jason Kidd needs to make some adjustments at both ends of the floor. Offensively, he needs to find a way to break through the dubs’ defense and get into the paint. In Game 1, they attempted 48 3-pointers and connected with just 11.
Kidd needs to do something different defensively and learn to defend space better because the Warriors are a much better 3-point shooting team than the Suns.
