Where is Ohio State in the study of college football’s greatest fan bases?

If you’ve been following us for a while, you know what we’re always saying; Ohio State Football turns on TVs.

And it’s true. The Buckeyes are often placed in Networks Game of the Week slots because they want to get the highest possible rating. Ratings often reflect that OSU’s games mostly come in at or near the top of the most-watched college football games per year.

So it feels like Ohio State has a larger fan base than almost any other program, but there really wasn’t any study to look at to confirm this. Until now.

Self-proclaimed strategy analyst Tony Altimore underwent a process to analyze the fanbases of all 130 FBS teams, and it ended up representing the Buckeye Nation very, very well.

In fact, surprisingly, the top sixteen teams made up 50% of the total fanbase. And that’s what we’re going to focus on here. Here are the top 50% that make up college football’s top sixteen FBS fan bases from #16 through #1.

We have a good feeling that you will like it.
