Women’s Basketball Reveals Part of Schedule Outside of Conference

CHICAGO — DePaul women’s basketball has completed eight games of its 2022-23 non-conference schedule. The Blue Demons will host five games at Wintrust Arena while traveling to meet a trio of local opponents.

Coach Doug Bruno, entering his 37th season as the leader of the Scarlet and Blue team, has once again put together a competitive table outside the league, highlighted by a visit from 2022 national semifinalists Louisville. Jeff Walz and his Cardinals travel to Wintrust Arena for a marquee matchup on Wednesday, December 21st.

There will be a meet and greet with American on Wednesday, November 9th to kick off the season. The Eagles and Blue Demons meet for the first time as transfer guards, and Chicago native Jade Edwards will take on her former team in her DePaul debut.

On Saturday, November 12th, the Blue Demons travel to DeKalb, Illinois to take on Northern Illinois at the Convocation Center. The former North Star Conference rivals will meet for the 42nd time in series history, with the last meeting between the two sides coming in the 2012-13 season.

Cleveland State visits Wintrust Arena on November 15, where the two programs will face off for the first time in 20 seasons. The Vikings compiled a 23-9 record in 2022 en route to second place at the 2022 Horizon League Championship.

The November home schedule concludes with a visit from Miami on Sunday November 20th. The Hurricanes finished 2021-22 with a 21-13 record and a trip to the second round of the NCAA tournament, where Katie Meier and co. fell to eventual National champions, South Carolina. DePaul and Miami have previously met with the Blue Demons when they played the opening meeting of the 2019 Maggie Dixon Classic.

Bruno’s Blue Demons will once again delve into local color with trips to the Chicago area’s Loyola (Dec. 7) and Northwestern (Dec. 10) programs. The Ramblers finished the 2021-22 season with an 18-12 record and are entering a new era under new head coach and former DePaul assistant Allison Guth as they play their inaugural season in the Atlantic 10 Conference. The Blue Demons lead the all-time streak in the red line rivalry 42-11.

DePaul and Northwestern will fight for a matchup at the Welsh-Ryan Arena for the 39th time in the all-time series. The two teams have met 27 times in the last 28 seasons, with the Blue Demons victorious in the last six meetings.

After a 2022 MEAC tournament title and an NCAA tournament appearance, Howard will travel to Chicago on Monday, December 12.

The non-conference promotion will end on December 21 when All-ACC selection Haley Van Lith and Louisville take a trip to the South Loop for a clash between former BIG EAST opponents.

Alongside second-team All-American and consensus National Freshman of the Year Aneesah MorrowDePaul welcomes back accomplished veterans Kierra Collier and Darrione Rogers in addition to the return of Jorie Allen from injuries. Multifaceted Notre Dame transfer Anaya Peoples is one of seven newcomers who, along with Edwards and a highly acclaimed class of five newcomers, will be looking to make an impression right from the start.
