World Juniors Schedule 2022: Complete Dates, Times, TV Channels, Live Streams to Watch Every Hockey Game

Christmas is coming early this year as the 2022 version of the IIHF World Junior Championship is scheduled to take place in August. The tournament, which usually begins the day after the bank holiday, was canceled in December due to COVID-19 but will resume this summer.

The 10-man tournament will start fresh, with some new rosters, new teams, and a whole new schedule. Results from winter don’t carry over to summer, so you can wash away everything from December.

The United States enters the tournament as the defending champions, having defeated Canada in the 2022 gold medal game. It was the fifth time the country won the World Junior Championship.

No teams will be relegated, so the same 10 countries will compete again in December’s 2023 tournament.

Where will the World Juniors 2022 take place?

  • Location: Edmonton, Alberta
  • Venue: Roger’s Place

The 2022 World Junior Championships will be held in Edmonton, Alberta. All games will be played at Rogers Place, home of the NHL’s Edmonton Oilers. It’s the first time since 1988 that there aren’t multiple venues.

MORE: Why is the World Juniors being played in August?

Before the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2022 tournament was scheduled to take place in Gothenburg, Sweden. However, due to restrictions introduced with COVID-19, it was changed to Edmonton in September 2020. Instead, Gothenburg was reassigned for the 2024 tournament.

This year Edmonton will host World Juniors games for the fourth time, having previously hosted 1995, 2012 and 2021.
